Karen’s strong clinical skills and wide range of experience allows her to achieve deep connections in her work with individuals, children, youth, families and couples. Karen has an exceptional, long-standing reputation in the community for her work within the school system and in child and youth mental health. She is committed to supporting children and parents and cultivates a greater sense of well-being and connection while managing any mental health or coping issues that may be occurring.

Karen has extensive training in Attachment-Based Therapies, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy, Family Systems, Emotion-Focused Family Therapy and in the Gottman Couples Therapy process. She has had tremendous success with helping children, adolescents and adult clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, self-harm, eating related issues, relationship distress, transitions and stress management. Karen is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.

Karen is known for her ability to form strong therapeutic connections and to increase client’s comfort and commitment to the therapeutic process. With remarkable insight, compassion, humour, and exceptional clinical skills, Karen guides each client though their unique life experiences and relationships. She assists clients in finding a greater sense of meaning and well-being in their lives, and helps guide them towards their counselling goals.

Karen prioritizes the unique and important role of parents and their connection with their child. She supports parents to find ways to connect with their children, and to be involved in their support and therapeutic process. Karen believes in the pivotal role that parents and caregivers have as they understand and support their loved one’s emotions and behaviours.

Karen has assisted countless children and youth with a wide range of coping and mental health related issues. She provides a sense of comfort and ease so children feel safe to open up and explore factors that may be contributing to challenges in their behaviour or emotional experiencing.

Karen believes it is a privilege to get to know, support, and work alongside her clients and their families. She is currently welcoming new clients to the practice.
