Heather Evans, MA, RCC
Heather is an exceptional and highly skilled therapist who brings her warmth and a keen ability to facilitate insight and change to her practice. She is an asset to the clinical team at Alison Bell and Associates Counselling Group and is pleased to be accepting new clients. Heather has a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in BC. She has over 15 years experience as a therapist and clinical supervisor working with various community agencies. Heather is known for her ability to connect with people of all ages and to provide a safe and open environment in which clients can feel supported and known while challenging the relationship and individual dynamics that might be getting in their way.
Heather has a tremendous capacity for care and compassion. She is deeply engaged with her clients and able to work at very deep levels of emotion and functioning. Heather works with children, adolescents, adults and couples and provides counselling to assist with all areas of mental health and well being as well as to develop connected and healthy relationships. Heather bases her counselling philosophy on attachment theory and an advanced understanding of relationship dynamics and systemic factor. Heather has a strong belief in community and has assisted countless at risk families and youth with the support and skills they require to thrive.
In addition to her breadth of experience with many cognitive behavioral, client centered and couples training, Heather has advanced trainings in various models of attachment theory and trauma therapy. She has provided effective trauma treatment and has had great success assisting client in areas they have previously felt overwhelmed and stuck. She has assisted, children, teens and adults to move through traumatic events in a way that previously did not feel was possible. Recently she has added additional training in emotionally focused family therapy.
Heather assists clients experiencing a range of coping, relationship challenges and mental health issues. She is expert in her ability to allow clients to more effectively manage depression, anxiety, self-harming, disordered eating, dysregulation of emotions and challenging or unfulfilling relationship dynamics. Heather is pleased to offer individual counselling, child and play therapy, parent and family counselling, adolescent therapy, adult and couples therapy.
