Chelsea holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Adler University and is registered with the BC Association as a Clinical Counsellor.
The strength of Chelsea’s therapeutic relationships allows her to cultivate meaningful change and to support transformation and awareness throughout the counselling process. Chelsea is well versed in current practice and research including: Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Attachment Theory, Mindfulness approaches, Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and has also completed the Gottman Couples Therapy training.
Chelsea believes in the importance of the mind/body connection and her years of training and experience has upheld her belief in the healing power of caregivers and families. She believes that we thrive with the support and care of those around us and that parents often benefit from understanding their child’s behaviours and emotions through a different lens. Chelsea supports families to come alongside their loved one, and to be an asset in making change and co-regulating their loved one’s emotions and supporting their behaviours.
Chelsea brings a wealth of experience in mental health and well-being as well as disordered eating counselling. She treats disordered eating, eating disorder, and body image issues including: anorexia, bulimia, orthorexia and binge eating disorders. Chelsea has experience working with teens and adults to overcome challenges with anxiety, depression, personality disorders, mood disorders, stress management and trauma in both agency and school settings. She has had great success in connecting with teens that have been seen as “high risk” and have not found other therapeutic processes helpful or comfortable.
Chelsea believes in the importance of holding a safe space to explore emotions, experiences, and struggles and views her work as a great privilege. She finds balance with her clients in honouring their unique experiences while supporting and challenging them to meet their counselling and life goals. Chelsea is currently accepting new clients and is pleased to welcome her clients to Alison Bell and Associates Counselling Group.
