Anxiety and Depression: Seeking Therapy for Common Mental Health Issues

Anxiety and Depression are two of the most common reasons that people seek therapy. These symptoms are often persistent and have often been long term. They really get in the way of people experiencing their life in a full way. Sometimes it's a means to cope and sometimes there are biological and pre-dispositioning factors that come into play.

Understanding the Root Causes of Depression and Anxiety

When people come to therapy and they're experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety it can often be the result of a long term struggle with grief or biological factors that have contributed to these symptoms. Regardless of the contributing factors, there's a lot of very negative thinking patterns, negative emotional experiences or negative coping patterns that need to be explored and addressed as well as the very intense pain and suffering that may be contributing to some of these behaviors. It's important to address the behaviors that people are experiencing as well as the underlying factors that may be contributing to the issue. When they are able to understand that there are other ways to do that and connect in a safe, therapeutic environment where some of the factors that are contributing may be explored they may have a much better experience of developing new ways and strategies to cope.
